EURUKO 2008 Attendees - LinkedIn Group
Posted on April 2nd, 2008 by irubyist
If you’re anything like me and were at EuRuKo 2008 in Prague, then I’m sure you met a ton of great people from all over Europe. Only thing is I can’t remember half of the names and blogs that I wanted to. I do remember one person asking me was I on LinkedIn though - I am - so I though that might be a good way of keeping in touch with fellow rubyists who were there this weekend. So I have created a new LinkedIn Group for people who attended EURUKO 2008. Just log in to your LinkedIn account and click on the link to join the group. It may take a while to approve all the requests but I’ll try to check in one a day for the next few weeks.

Mind you though, that there’s already a very similar group (nearly 100 members up to now) on Facebook sine last year’s Euruko2007 (Vienna, Austria): http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=17995395190
While I think that we shouldn’t break up into sub groups ‘just’ because some like LinkedIn, others prefer Facebook and Xing was also mentioned, I do also think that we’re now such a large group that new smaller gatherings start to make a lot of sense. They could be based on interest (Testing come to [my] mind) or the geographical area.
Stephan - I agree with you about people joining the Facebook group for discussion and photo sharing etc. - I’m already a member of the EurukoBackWeb group myself.
I just set the LinkedIn group up as LinkedIn serves a different purpose to Facebook - it’s more career orientated etc.
I think the Facebook group or a Google Group mailing list should be used for the community discussion aspect but I don’t see any harm in facilitating people linking to each other via LinkedIn as well though.
